Leadership

Leading with Humanity

Starting in fifth grade, St. Luke's students begin to learn and practice what it means to be ethical and empathetic leaders. Year by year, capabilities increase and the confidence to lead grows.

Our Distinct Approach to Leadership

Leading with Humanity Curriculum

St. Luke’s mission is an exceptional education that inspires a deep love of learning, a strong moral compass, the commitment to serve, and the confidence to lead. Our Leading with Humanity curriculum emphasizes the development of moral character alongside leadership skills, fostering the ability to lead, collaborate, and empathize with others.

Leading with Humanity courses are designed to spiral, ensuring that each year's learning builds upon prior knowledge. This gradual process steadily enhances students' leadership capabilities. Beginning in Middle School, students identify strengths and interests, dedicating efforts to enhance their school community. Progressing to Upper School, their perspectives broaden, recognizing their capacity to positively impact the wider world. By the time students graduate, the Confidence to Lead with Humanity has become an intrinsic part of who they are.

St. Luke's leadership education is enriched by four essential areas of focus—Compass, Equity & Inclusion, Global, and Service.

Leadership Institute

At St. Luke’s, leadership isn’t a title—it’s a set of behaviors. The St. Luke’s Leadership Institute helps students put these behaviors into practice, developing skills like collaboration, effective communication, and problem-solving through immersive retreats. These programs challenge students to step outside their comfort zones, connect with peers, and discover their strengths, building self-awareness, resilience, and a commitment to making a positive impact. Listen to Bhhavya Somaya '26 share how this transformative program helped him grow as a leader.

Leadership Experiences: Learning from Legends

Imagine learning how to launch a concept—from a mere glimmer of an idea to pitching potential investors— before you've even left high school. Signature leadership experiences connect students with powerhouses from diverse fields including business, arts, and philanthropy. In one student's words: "This was like the real world."
